Nutrition Program
Chronic diseases are the leading cause of deaths in the US, according to CDC. Meanwhile, with motivation and lifestyle changes through evidence based science related to health, their high prevalence can significantly decrease.
I. Essential nutrients for optimal wellness
These nutrients encompass macro and micronutrients including essential amino acids, minerals, essential fats, proteins and fat based-plants, complex carbs, liposoluble and hydro soluble vitamins.
Helping you to fuel your body with the healthiest nutrients from the above list is our top priority.
II. Identification of harmful food to human body mainly as you age
As you age more free radicals’ byproducts your body accumulates from metabolism. This is why scientists don’t yet know how to avoid human beings from the aging process because everyone breathes and eats, and those metabolic processes produce reactive oxidative stress (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) which are free radicals besides other free radicals you are exposed to from your environments. Recalling that free radicals are mostly responsible for the wrinkles as you age.
But you can delay the aging process through avoiding trans fats, limiting your consumption of salt, alcohol, sugar, fat and cholesterol; by managing your weight and stress, trying to stay away from tobacco & second-hand smoking, formaldehyde, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and making your sleep a priority.
III. Hygiene as a Point of our Effective Nutrition Class
Fitness, balanced diet, lifestyle changes, sexual transmitted infections (STIs), personal hygiene are common topics usually people focus on to achieve health. Foodborne illnesses and food safety are rare topics discussed in social and traditional media or in school settings. While, according to CDC, “48 million people in the US get sick from foodborne illnesses each year”. So, foodborne illnesses and food safety topics deserve more attention because TCS and ready to eat food are plethoric in the United States.
Identify what TCS and Ready to eat food are and population at risk for foodborne illness and empower our clients to prevent foodborne illness are our focus in the topic “Hygiene as a Point of our Effective Nutrition Class”.
Another focus is about “balanced diet” what does it mean for a person who is not excelled at science related to health?
It may mean variety your meals, like eat more fruits and vegetables and less meat especially red meat or more probiotic food and fiber or moderate your consumption of trans fat, cholesterol and alcohol or go gluten-free food if you have been diagnosed with celiac or Crohn’s diseases or limited added sugar drinks, and so on. Meanwhile you can apply all those wonderful advice but you might still not incorporate what your gut and brain need to function harmoniously mostly if you are over 40, either men or women, not only because there is consensus on scarcity for healthy food in the U.S. but also because you are not educated enough on nutrition and food literacy to choose the right minerals, vitamins, amino acids, and fats whose gut and brain are starving for.
But no worries, just do the right thing! If you are a happiness seeker, take our “Effective Nutrition Class” and your gut and brain will thank you forever.
IV. Understanding a bit the human anatomy & physiology to make informed food & drink choices
Our mood depends mostly on how we feel inside, which relies on how we feed our cells, tissues, organs, and systems. Some cells like mitochondria; tissues like blood and muscles; organs like liver, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, brain, bones, muscles; systems like digestive, circulatory, respiratory, excretory, immune, endocrine, their health is all crucial to maintaining life. Knowing the function and location of major organs in the body like liver, spleen, gallbladder, heart, lungs, pancreas, and kidneys can help you be an effective listener to your body speaking and respond appropriately to its needs. Studies claim that “most common factors of chronic diseases are poverty, poor nutrition, smoking, and lack of knowledge on eating habit practices”. Indeed, malnutrition is the most reasonable cause of lack of knowledge on eating and lifestyle patterns. Maybe to that list we would add a lack of motivation to pursue a healthy lifestyle because people ignore the fact that living longer and healthier and healthy lifestyle and safety food goes hand in hand.
For example, healthy mitochondria are indispensable to keep track on homeostatic energy in body, the respiratory system and for every work we perform, including fitness, since we are energy. None of our cells can be properly fueled without healthy blood and circulatory system. Furthermore, high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attacks, or kidneys damage. Another important point to mention about kidneys and body fluids is the kidney’s ability to regulate water, electrolytes and waste removal in the body. If kidneys stop functioning or do not properly function, your physician may refer you to dialysis. If you feel always tired and have swelling around your ankles, you may ask your doctor for a kidneys screen.
The digestive, endocrine systems, pancreas, liver, or gallbladder that plays a minor role in sustaining life can impair your daily lives if unhealthy. For instance, an inflamed gallbladder (gallstones) can lead to chest pain, sweating, and feeling nauseous after eating dairy products or food that contain a lot of saturated fat because of excess calories that create an elevated triglycerides (TG) stored in fat cells that impair gallbladder function which is the storage and concentration of bile released by liver; which bile is responsible for breaking down fat for digestion and absorption. Your food and drinks choices can also positively or negatively impact the functioning of your immune, excretory, and muscle-skeletal systems.
Therefore, a happiness seeker should not only be aware of all seven organs whose liver, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, heart, brain, and lungs, and their associated systems for the required nutrients for strong health but also the endocrine system diet since certain food and drinks and lack of sleep can really impede or boost the release of neurotransmitters which are chemical messengers that connect your gut and brain for happiness.
